SoundID Reference crash when connecting a UAD device [MAC]

If you see a crash report - "SoundID Reference quit unexpectedly", whilst using or connecting a UAD audio interface, this guide will highlight the problem and provide a workaround for affected users.

Crash with UAD devices

There is a known issue with the latest release, version 5.7.3.17, where the SoundID Reference standalone app crashes once a Universal Audio device is connected. This affects multiple models from UA, including Arrow, Apollo, Solo, etc.). We're investigating this crash and will implement a fix as soon as possible. 

Workaround

Currently, for those who encounter this issue, it's recommended to revert back to the previous version. In order to do so, follow these steps: 

1. Uninstall SoundID Reference. How to uninstall SoundID Reference? [MAC]
2. Launch the installer (download here) and click on Customize
3. Click on the dropdown menu and select version 5.7.2.8 (marked as "Beta")
4. Click on the Install button to proceed
