DAW plugin output gain drops in Pro Tools (defaults to Safe Headroom level)

Plugin defaults to Safe Headroom values

The AAX plugin in Pro Tools defaults to the Safe Headroom master volume setting even though it shows that the safe headroom setting is not engaged. This results in the output volume being much lower than expected. The issue occurs when reopening your Pro Tools project with the SoundID Reference plugin loaded.

 

 

Workaround

There are two workarounds available:

  1. Move the gain slider in the SoundID Reference plugin up and down, this will allow you to set the plugin to the gain values necessary and output volume will not be compromised for the session;

  2. Uninstall the current SoundID Reference AAX plugin from your device as shown here:
  3. Download and install the v5.6.1 AAX plugin:
