5.7 update issues - how to revert back to a previous version

This guide highlights critical issues that are known to us in the SoundID Reference 5.7, if you encounter one of them, try the suggested solutions before a hotfix release.

With the release of the SoundID Reference version 5.7, we have received several critical issues reports from our users, who have been affected by one of the issues listed below.

Our development team is looking into the cause of the problems, and a fix update will be released as soon as possible.

Reverting back to the 5.6.1 version

  1. Back up your speaker profiles: Where can I find my speaker profile?
  2. Uninstall the current version as shown here:
    How to uninstall SoundID Reference? [MAC]
    How to uninstall SoundID Reference? [WIN]
  3. Download and install version 5.6.1.4 here:
    macOS download
    Windows download

 

Reverting back to the 5.7.2 version [MAC]

  1. Back up your speaker profiles: Where can I find my speaker profile?
  2. Delete the HAL driver file from this location:
    Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/SoundID Reference.driver
  3. Uninstall the current version as shown here: How to uninstall SoundID Reference? [MAC]
  4. Launch the regular online installer (download here) and click on Customize
  5. Click on the dropdown menu and select version 5.7.2.7 (marked as "Beta")

By installing version 5.6, the issue of not being able to start was successfully resolved.
