SoundID Reference 5.9.1. release notes

1

Hi all,

On January 24, 2024, we have released a new SoundID Reference software update (v5.9.1.), here's what's included:

SoundID Reference

  • [macOS] Fixed a common issue of missing driver, which could result in no sound or no calibration effect applied (for more details on this issue, see our guide here: SoundID Reference missing from Mac sound output - issue fixed [MAC]).
  • Fixed an issue of headphone search not working when using the setup guide.
  • Updated the headphone search so that the search query carries over from the manufacturer selection screen to the model selection screen.
  • Fixed a non-working Dismiss button in the Update available message.
  • Fixed descriptions of Car 1 and Car 3 presets within Translation Check.

If there is an issue remaining after installing the update, please check the steps mentioned in the bottom of the article on what to check additionally: No sound after installing the 5.9.1 fix update

SoundID Reference plugin

  • Fixed an issue which caused the gain value not being recalled correctly after restarting a Pro Tools session.
  • Fixed descriptions of Car 1 and Car 3 presets within Translation Check.

If you encounter any issues after this update, please let us know, so we can investigate them further.

Happy mixing!

Best regards,
Zane from Sonarworks Team

Updater instantly goes to “Failed…” status when trying to update my Win11 machine.  Any ideas on how to get past this?  Updating from 5.9.0 to 5.9.1

braken.ear we've seen a couple of such cases over the past week (on macOS too). We are not sure why this is the case yet, but in the two cases that we encountered, the solution was to switch to a mobile hotspot instead of your regular network connection. Can you try that, please, and also try to reboot the wifi router?

I have created a support request on your behalf, our team will have a closer look at the problem. Thank you!

Unfortunately hotspot and reboot did not help.  I'm still stopped at the Failed screen

braken.ear fair enough, thanks for trying. Our team will get back to you in the support request shortly. Meanwhile, it would help if you could collect and send the install log as shown here: Installation log files for Windows

Unfortunately the gain setting is still not working properly in Pro Tools AAX. I'm using the multichannel version and although the gain says 0.0db, I have to adjust the slider and then the volume goes up by about 5 db to where it should be. This is a little frustrating as I'm reloading cues repeatedly throughout the day and have to adjust every time. Hope you can sort a fix out soon! Aside form that, amazing software and a happy user.

Hi Mike Truman, thanks for reaching out, sorry to hear about this!

Indeed we had implemented a fix for the gain issue in the SoundID Reference AAX plugin. We are investigating a couple of similar reports submitted recently and I will also open up a support request on your behalf, so our team can look further into this. Thanks!
