Systemwide app comes up but does not affect sound, OS Monterrey.

Hi all, I'm running a 2021 Macbook Pro with Monterrey and using a UAD Arrow interface. I went through all of the setup, and the test button says "left" and "right" in my headphones, but when the app comes up it doesn't affect the audio at all. I can mute the output, or put a low cut filter across the whole spectrum and nothing changes. I went through the help section on this site and tried some of the troubleshooting tips but nothing helped.

Worth noting that when I go into Preferences, then Sound, I don't see "Sonarworks" as a virtual device in the input/output section. I did see the Sonarworks driver in the HAL folder, but only one file, and only one driver, I didn't see any with "systemwide" in the name. Should there be two driver files in there? Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

I wanted to follow up on this post and let you know that we have released a new SoundID Reference beta version 5.9.1.2 which includes a fix for the SoundID Reference missing from sound settings on macOS issue. If this is a problem that you have also encountered, we would really appreciate it if you could try out this beta and let us know whether the issue is fixed on your machines.

To install the beta version, please follow the instructions available in our guide here: SoundID Reference missing from Mac sound output [MAC]: Install beta

Let me know how this goes if you have the chance to try out the beta. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out, sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue!

If SoundID Reference is not appearing as an audio device after the 5.7.3.17 update, please take a look at our support guide on this issue with some workarounds included here: Missing driver after updating to 5.7.3 [MAC]

There should be only one SoundID Reference.driver file present in the HAL folder in Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL

We are aware of this problem and our team is investigating it further. Please make sure to try the workarounds mentioned in the article linked above.

Hi, Zane. The second recommendation to force quit the Sonarworks driver from Activity Monitor and restarting the app worked. Thanks!

Hi,

In case there is an issue with no sound observed when the SoundID Reference standalone app is running, we can recommend checking some common things that could cause this, see our guide here: No sound / no calibration effect [MAC] (it is possible SoundID Reference is muted/lowered volume, or there is another trigger at hand).
