I've recently purchased a Beyer DT900ProX since judging by your reviews it was one of the better options to go with for mixing. I have DT770s and without Sonarworks I find them sounding very very harsh, and the 900X does sound less harsh without the EQ, but once the EQ is engaged I find it sounding very honky and midrangy, so much so it almost feels like an error in the profile. I'd be surprised that the 900X is faulty since it is brand new, but I don't have another one to compare it to.
I did compare the EQd 900X to a Shure 1840 EQd and the 1840 sounds like how it should sound with the EQ, better. Same for an Audio Technica headpones and Shure 215 inears. The 900X does not sound better with the EQ to my ears... I actually think the 900X sounds worse with the EQ than without, and this has never happened to me with your software.
